The Votorantim Group works in the aluminum, nickel, and zinc markets in a focused and decentralized way. The nickel and zinc areas are managed by Votorantim Metals, and the Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) accounts for aluminum ore management. Votorantim Siderurgia has, since July 2008, the control of steel business. 

Nickel
Votorantim Metals is a leading manufacturer of electrolytic nickel in Latin America. Located in São Miguel Paulista suburb, in São Paulo City, the metallurgical unit has annual production capacity of 30 thousand tons of nickel and nickel matte.

Zinc
Votorantim Metals’ Zinc Business was born in 1956, in the city of Três Marias (State of Minas Gerais), with the construction of Companhia Mineira de Metais. Today, VM is a worldwide leader in this metal production.

It produces metallic zinc Special High Grade (SHG) in bars, zamac, zinc oxide, zinc powder and special alloys, in addition to silver and plumb concentrates, sulfuric acid and brimstone.

Steel
The steel business, controlled by Votorantim Siderurgy, has three manufacturing units in Latin America and a forth one still under construction in Brazil.

In 2007, the steel business accounted for 29.2% of the R$7.27 billion of VM’s revenue, including the interest in Usiminas and in Colombian Acerías Paz del Río.

Nowadays, VS produces 1.3 million tons/year of long steel, estimating to reach 3.5 million in 2013.

Aluminium
Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) owns two reserves and it is self-sufficient in bauxite, the ore used for the manufacturing of aluminium. It performs since the gross ore up to the final products besides having the world’s largest integrated factory of aluminium in the city of Alumínio (São Paulo State). Its production capacity grows continuously and today it reaches around 475 thousand tons/year.
