In metal segments, Votorantim runs in aluminium, zinc, nickel and steel markets.

Aluminium
Companhia Brasileira de Alumínio (CBA) owns two reserves and it is self-sufficient in bauxite, the ore used for the manufacturing of aluminium. It performs since the gross ore up to the final products besides having the world’s largest integrated factory of aluminium in the city of Alumínio (São Paulo State). Its production capacity grows continuously and today it reaches around 400 thousand tons/year, 50% of which are exported.

Zinc
Four of the five units of zinc business are located in Minas Gerais State. Half of ore supply is guaranteed by the mines in that state. It produces Special High Grade metallic zinc (SHG) in ingots, zinc and oxide zinc alleys, in addition to silver and lead concentrates, cooper sulphate, sulphuric acid and sulphur dioxide. In Peru, the zinc unit controls Refineria Cajamarquilla, with a production capacity of 130 thousand tons per year and has 24.9% Companhia Minera Milpo, Peru’s fourth biggest zinc mining company.

Nickel
Votorantim Metais is also the country’s biggest metallical nickel producer. The unit Níquel Tocantins produces around 26 thousand tons/year of nickel and 1.2 thousand tons/year of cobalt. Approximately half of the production is exported to the United States, Europe and Asia. Located in São Miguel Paulista suburb, in São Paulo City, the metallurgical unit has annual production capacity of 20.4 thousand tons of nickel and 960 thousand tons of electrolytic cobalt.

Steel
Unidade de Aço Barra Mansa’s production of long steel, located in the municipal district with the same name, in Rio de Janeiro State, includes rods, drawn shapes, annealed wire. The late production capacity is 450 thousand tons/year. Almost all production has the internal civil construction market as its destination, and a small quota – near 20% - is exported to South America countries. It has international certifications of quality in production and management.
