Absorbing around 30% of Internal Social Investments, the job security programs make a great effort to raise the standard of the management to ever higher platforms, improving the means of risk identification. The program Comportamento Seguro (Safe Behavior) is a good example. Aimed to accidental prevention, it was born in Votorantim Chemistry and in 2004 it was implanted in other companies. No later than 2006 it will be in all business units of the Group thank to the sharing of positive experiences provided by Votorantim Management System (VMS).
The checking of management standards have been made through independent methodologies, such as NOSA (National Operational Security Association - a South African Entity which developed one of the most comprehensive and reliable methods of appraisal of risks in the area).
Today, almost all plants from Votorantim Metals have already achieved the four stars and two of them have already achieved five stars. At Votorantim Cement, from the 21 plants already analyzed, 13 received five stars.
Companhia Nitro Química Brasileira ended 2004 with no accident as to medical leaves and in 2005 it started focusing employees form outsourced companies as well. At CBA, two plants broke the record of consecutive days with no register of accidents. An another excellent performance in 2004 was achieved by Votorantim Pulp and Paper: 1.67 labor accidents for 1 million of hours worked.
