The environmental question is one the Group´s management priorities once natural resources are used in Votorantim’s Industrial activities. The business units seek to attain environmental excellence through world-class practices. Thus, in 2004, R$154.5 million was invested in internal actions aimed at environmental preservation and recovery.

Following the example of what takes place in the social scope, the environmental actions are also divided between internal actions (with direct impact on the company due to the productive processes or legal requirements) and external actions (which extrapolate the business in itself, benefiting the community and the environment as a whole).
