20/03/2008 - Votorantim Cement supports Project targeting children and teenagers from Barcarena (PA)

Votorantim Cement announced – in Barcarena, on March 18th – partnership formalization with the Child and Teenager Rights City Council (CMDCA/CTRCC) to support to the Projeto Crianças e Adolescentes: Prioridade Absoluta (Children and Teenagers Project: Absolute Priority).

Through the Via Votorantim - a program by Votorantim supporting the Child and Teenager Statute –  R$ 160,780.00 will be sent to Abaetetuba Diocese’s Social Works for the Project, which promotes complementary educational activities for more than 520 7-to-15-year-old children and teenagers.

The Crianças e Adolescentes: Prioridade Absoluta Project offers school reinforcement, arts & crafts workshops, sports & recreation, and psychosocial support aiming to reduce family fragility and infant-and-youth drug vulnerability, and sexual exploitation and abuse, domestic violence, early pregnancy, child labor, and school jubilation and dropout.

Via Votorantim
Resources for Projects like these have been destined – since 2004 – by Votorantim Group’s Companies to the Child and Teenage Rights Fund (FIA). To integrate all contributions, from 2006 on, the Via Votorantim has been developed – a program guiding and supporting the Company’s business units so they can dedicate such funds, always supported by the Votorantim Institute.

The great program differential is the investment in following up supported Projects, with qualification workshops for qualifying professionals from the entities accounting for performing the Projects and Child and Teenager Rights City Council (CMDCA/CTRCC) members. The objective is to strengthen the child-and-teenager protection network in the cities served. In addition, the program directly involves Votorantim workers in the supported Projects follow-up through visits and monitoring reports.
