Votorantim Cimentos innovates once more and launches the Evoluir [Evolve] Project in the month of August, in celebration of its 70 years, in partnership with the Votorantim Institute and SENAI [National Industrial Learning Service]. Preferentially directed toward youngsters aged 17 and 24 years, the project aims at qualifying mechanics and electricians in industrial maintenance. With this initiative, the company aims at preparing qualified labor for the future in the communities in which it operates, creating job opportunities and collaborating with the region’s development and growth.
The course will be ministered in 1,200 hours, being divided into three modules of 400 hours. The Evoluir Project has already been implemented in Corumbá (Mato Grosso do Sul State) in late July, and in this month of August it reaches the municipalities of Sobradinho (Federal District) and Nobres (Mato Grosso State), municipality that will initially have the first module. Between the months of September and October, it enters into operation in the municipalities of Cantagalo (Rio de Janeiro State) and Laranjeiras (Sergipe State).
During or after the course, the best students may be used in the company, provided there are vacancies in the company’s staff or within the underage apprentice quota. The program has duration of 8 to 18 months and will empower youngsters to become mechanics or electricians in industrial maintenance, with greater chances of being employed in these regions.
Forty youngsters will be chosen from each municipality through a selection process coordinated by SENAI with support of the Human Development and Organization team of the Votorantim Cimentos Units. In some units, the selection process will be open to employees who will be able to occupy up to 50% of vacancies. The determinant prerequisites for this participation were: have minimum age of 18 years until conclusion of the first module, complete elementary education, in addition to characteristics like determination, good relationship, interest in learning and residing in the community where the plant is installed.
To complete the education of these youngsters, in addition to the technical part, preparation for interpersonal relations, professional choice, technological innovations and their impacts on the lives of people and on the society, State, citizenship and work were included.
