Nitro Química, one of the Votorantim Chemical companies, was recognized with the “ecomagination” Leadership Award presented by General Electric Water & Process Technologies. The award is presented every two years to GE clients throughout the world which are outstanding in their commitment to the environment. It is the third time the award has been made. Nitro Química was the only company in Latin America to receive the award on this occasion.

The award was made in recognition of Nitro Química’s results in implementing GE´s reverse osmosis system used in the production of demineralized water in high pressure steam boilers. Its implementation allowed the company to make a significant reduction in the consumption of water, natural gas and electrical energy, as well as reducing the generation of waste in the company’s productive process.

“Votorantim Chemicals is constantly pursuing technological innovations which lead to the rational use of natural resources and the solution presented by GE brought excellent results,” said Mario Bavaresco Junior, Superintendent of Votorantim Chemicals. “We are flattered to be rewarded with the “ecomagination” prize which recognizes our efforts in environmental preservation,” he added. The presentation ceremony took place on June 8 in São Paulo.
