Votorantim Metais was one of the finalists in the Prêmio Nacional de Inovação (Brazilian Innovation Prize), in the Large Companies category, and highlighted for its "Innovation Management".
During the event, held on May 13 and organized by the National Confederation of Industry (local acronym CNI) and the Brazilian Service for the Support of Small and Medium-sized Companies (SEBRAE), VM was recognized for its contribution to increasing Brazil´s industrial competitiveness. The company was seen to be outstanding in its use of systems and techniques directed at improving innovation management.
"The prize recognizes our efforts to obtain differentials that put Votorantim Metais on a higher level in terms of performance and competitiveness on the domestic and international market," said Alexandre VM´s director of Technology and Engineering.
Votorantim Metais is one of the players in the industrial sector that best takes advantage of the encouragement to innovation provided by the Brazilian Industrial Research and Innovation Company (Embrapii). This is a pilot initiative of the SENAI-CEMATC to encourage the industrial sector to innovate more, with a greater technological input, to strengthen the competitive force of companies on the internal and international market.
The partnership between VM and the SENAI-CEMATC has led to the development of a new system of burning renewable fuels, created to reduce the consumption of petroleum-based oils. The project was tested in Niquelândia, one of the pilot fuel plants and is now undergoing the industrial testing stage.
VM currently has eight projects directed at technological innovation, all of which are being supported by the Embrapii.
