Votorantim Metals is the largest producer of electrolytic nickel in Latin America, exporting nearly 70% of its production. The metal is used in finishing stainless steel, providing more durability and beauty to products coated with chrome or nickel. Among the most common applications are electroplating and the production of superalloys and non-ferrous alloys.

In 2009, the company upgraded its operating facilities and entered into a partnership agreement with Mirabela Mineração for supply of raw materials according to its industrial needs. The company invested R$180 million to operate a new coke boiler at its Niquelândia (Goiás State) plant, which allowed it to reduce its fuel oil consumption by approximately 40%.

Products: electrolytic nickel, nickel coins, nickel matte, cobalt, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid.

Productive assets: 2 mining and processing facilities (Niquelândia, Goiás State, and Fortaleza de Minas – Minas Gerais State), and 1 metallurgy operation (São Paulo, São Paulo State).
