Votorantim Metals is a leading manufacturer of electrolytic nickel in Latin America. In 2010, it increased its production capacity to 44 thousand tons of contained nickel.

In 2009, the company upgraded its operating facilities and entered into a partnership agreement with Mirabela Mineração for supply of raw materials according to its industrial needs. The company invested R$180 million to operate a new coke boiler at its Niquelândia (Goiás State) plant, which allowed it to reduce its fuel oil consumption by approximately 40%.

Presently, the market has proven attractive, with sustained prices, and can enable new projects in the medium and long term. The outlook for 2011 is to record incremental volume of 9%, a result of operational efficiency.

Products: electrolytic nickel, nickel coins, nickel matte, cobalt, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid.

Productive assets: 2 mining and processing facilities (Niquelândia, Goiás State, and Fortaleza de Minas – Minas Gerais State), and 1 metallurgy operation (São Paulo, São Paulo State).
