Votorantim and the State Environmental Secretariat have signed a protocol of intentions, through the Forest Foundation (Fundação Florestal), to create the Reserva Votorantim. This is an area covering around 35,000 hectares, located in the south of São Paulo state in the Vale do Ribeira region, which Votorantim has preserved for over 50 years. It will be the largest reserve on private property within the Atlantic rainforest. It lies alongside the Jurupará State Park and forms an ecological corridor running between the interior of the state and the coastline.

Under the agreement, the Reserve will managed jointly by Votorantim and the state government.

The Reserve will be used for scientific and academic studies, as well a environmental education activities, ecotourism, the preservation of species threatened with extinction and the social and economic development of the region.
