Votorantim adopted ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) standards even before the term was created. The first publication of Votorantim’s Annual Report dates to 1923. Since then, the company has maintained its commitment to transparency, evolving the level of information disclosed and adapting to the best market practices. Currently, the Annual Report in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
According to corporate governance principles, each of the portfolio companies has autonomy to manage ESG issues, in line with its business strategies. In this context, Votorantim has three objectives through its consistent participation:
Influence
Influence portfolio companies to adopt environmental, social and governance best practices, to contribute to the portfolio's perpetuity.
Monitor
integration of ESG criteria in decisions regarding new investments and in the evaluation of the portfolio companies to contribute to the monitoring of social, environmental, governance and reputation risks from the perspective of an investment holding company.

Report
communicate transparently and consistently about ESG initiatives undertaken by the portfolio companies.
Since 2011, Votorantim has been signatory to the Global Compact, an initiative that promotes fundamental and internationally accepted values in the areas of human rights, labor relations, the environment and the fight against corruption. This voluntary commitment extends to the portfolio companies.
Votorantim also became a signatory to CDP, the largest environmental database in the world. The purpose of joining the organization was to develop analysis of environmental information and how to integrate it to the investment analysis process in a structured manner.
Votorantim discloses its main contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a United Nations (UN) initiative. To this end, Votorantim developed a methodology to identify and prioritize these contributions, correlating them with ours materiality.
